Backend Engineer - Mid-Senior Level

Description

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Backend Engineer at the Mid-Senior level to help build features, design and implement API methods, and enhance system performance and reliability. This role involves working with core technologies like Golang, Redis, and NATS to support our platform serving over twenty trillion feature flags daily. As part of the you-build-it-you-run-it culture, engineers will be responsible for supporting applications in production, including optional compensated off-hours on-call duties.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance data analysis products and APIs for the new Experimentation product line.

  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver user-facing features.

  • Monitor and improve server-side performance.

  • Write unit, integration, and load tests as necessary.

  • Actively participate in code reviews.

  • Write and review technical proposals.

  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience with server-side web development in languages such as Java, Scala, Ruby, Python, or Golang.

  • Experience building RESTful APIs.

  • Familiarity with computer science fundamentals such as data structures, distributed systems, concurrency, and threading.

  • Commitment to a communicative and collaborative working environment.

  • Ability to write easily understandable and maintainable code.

  • High standards for working with production systems.

  • Valuation of high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices.

  • Familiarity with networking technologies such as TCP, HTTP, websockets, and server-sent events.
