FastSpring is seeking a Software Engineer III for Payments & Risk to enhance our risk engine and optimize payment methods globally. This role involves extracting valuable data signals, building risk solutions to minimize fraud, and improving customer revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Design systems to optimize seller revenue without affecting other processes.

  • Build a minimally intrusive solution to minimize fraud using industry best practices.

  • Understand and address payment methods and customer behaviors across different geographies.

  • Maintain security, resilience, and scalability.

  • Collaborate across teams to balance urgency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure data-driven decision-making prevails.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in Fintech with international payments.

  • Proficiency in back-end programming, preferably in Java.

  • Familiarity with resilience and observability.

  • Comprehensive understanding of payments and risk domains, including card processing, 3DS, and real-time payments.

  • Strong ability to interpret data and apply deductive reasoning.

  • Capability to manage external technology as black box services with high reliability expectations.
