Description
The Wikimedia Foundation seeks a Senior Software Engineer (PHP) to join its Product Security team. This role involves developing new security technologies to protect Wikipedia and related projects. The engineer will work closely with the security team to design and implement features that safeguard users and the platform.
Responsibilities
Design and build MediaWiki security features.
Review and deploy security features developed by the Foundation and community.
Collaborate with other development teams to ensure secure architectural choices.
Maintain security and address technical debt in critical components.
Provide support for application security incidents and operations.
Requirements
Strong software engineering experience with a focus on security.
Experience with object-oriented PHP and client-side JavaScript.
Experience in developing secure software or security-related features.
Interest in learning specific security skills.
Ability to explain security issues to non-technical audiences.
Experience with Linux command-line tasks related to web development.
