Coinbase is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Developer - Onchain Payments) to join our team. This role involves building innovative payment solutions using crypto technology. The engineer will work on creating scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems to support our mission of increasing economic freedom in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain a scalable, reliable, and secure payment processing backend using Go, Ruby, and Solidity.

  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to rapidly prototype user flows, gather market feedback, and adjust code as needed.

  • Build backend orchestration for a new open-source web3 payment protocol.

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other partners to find product market fit.

  • Optimize backend performance to ensure fast transaction processing and high availability.

  • Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on backend development.

  • Mastery of Go and/or Ruby; experience with Solidity is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains, with experience in developing smart contracts.

  • Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven architectures.

  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), caching systems (Redis, Memcached), and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS and containerization technologies like Kubernetes.

  • Great problem-solving skills and ability to find solutions to crypto processing challenges.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
