Description
Canonical is seeking a skilled Golang Engineer to join our diverse team. This role involves working with Go, particularly where performance and security are key. The position is open to software engineers who have a background in Go, as part of our mission to deliver innovative open-source solutions globally. Successful applicants will fit into a product team at Canonical based on their interests. The position is fully remote with team members across different time zones.
Responsibilities
Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Go.
Debug and fix issues encountered by users.
Participate in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews.
Collaborate with community and colleagues on technical specifications.
Seek improvements to engineering and operations practices.
Deploy and operate services developed by the team when needed.
Contribute to the success of products through technical advocacy.
Requirements
An exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or an alternative compelling narrative.
Experience designing and writing high-quality Golang software on Linux.
Experience with and passion for Linux at the system level.
Professional written and spoken English skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
Ability to travel twice a year for company events.
Experience with Ubuntu Linux, Juju, LXD, Microk8s, Snapd is a plus.
Performance engineering and security experience is advantageous.
